I love Santa Fe

The last time we  were in Santa Fe was three years ago. We went by the Plaza where the juried Indians set up their jewelry for sale and found a beautiful beaded silver and turquoise bracelet.  When we went back this year the same artist was there and I got a lovely pair of earrings to match.

She is such a talented person, she and her husband live on the Pueblo and both create jewelry.

They are just so pretty.

Then we went to Madrid ( the little town where they made the movie Wild Hogs ) and one of the shops had estate jewelry and J found this cross.  Of course I had to have it, so now I have this years, birthday, Christmas and anniversary presents and maybe next years too!

Home

I had every intention to do a group of posts and schedule them for our trip home, but obviously I didn't.

We stayed at some very nice places this trip out and had some great meals at some wonderful restaurants this year and my plan now is to update the Resort and Restaurant blogs. This blog is primarily a way to stay in touch with family and friends while we are gone but I also want to share with fellow RVer's the good places we have found along the way.

The Shed, Santa Fe dining

Night before last after a long day of shopping we went to dinner at The Shed. They having been serving for 56 years in Santa Fe.  The building alone would be worth the trip, but the food was fantastic. ( We have to get out of this town or we will not fit in any of our clothes)

Jay gave it 4 forks, which for him is high praise.

He had steak smothered in red chili sauce and a cheese enchilada.

I had a chicken taco and cheese and onion enchilada, ate every bite!

Yesterday we went shopping in Madrid, the little town where Wild Hogs was filmed, I will try to do a post later.

Today is our last day and we are trying to decide how we spend it.

Then tomorrow we start this thing up and head east, should be home by Saturday.

Taos

Yesterday we spent the day in Taos.  It is such a neat place, so beautiful, totally different from Santa Fe.

Jay found the neatest restaurant  that serves dogs out on the patio, so we were able to take Iz with us.

The dogs have there own menu, as shown below in the picture, too cute.

I had the specialty which was pork carnitas, they were wonderful.

Jay had an Elk burger and a corn, potato, crab soup, which I was happy to share.

We had Mexican hot chocolate and a piece of the best Key Lime pie we have ever tasted for dessert, I was so excited to try it, I completely forgot about taking a picture.

I tried to get a shot of Iz's plate, but once I put it on the ground she attacked!

Of course we were all members of the clean plate club.

We have been having the most wonderful time here, we are truly, truly blessed to live this life!!

Santa Fe Find

It is really hard to find time to post here.  There is so much we are trying to cram in and with the altitude and my allergies I get so tired I crash pretty early.

Today we are going into town to see the artwork of the Indians on the Plaza wall.  I usually get to buy one pretty when we are here, but yesterday we went to one of our favorite shops in Santa Fe and I may have already bought my one goody.

We always go to a shop called Double Take, which is a consignment shop for western wear.  Every year we find something unique, usually for Jay, but this year Jay found this beauty buried in a rack and I could not resist it.

It fits like it was made for me.  I told Jay there must be another chubby old lady out on a ranch somewhere who has great taste and lots of money, maybe she's my double, only rich!

This is a Double D coat made in Yoakam, Texas, brand new it would be around $1500 and I got it gently used for $250 ( I know you are proud of me Tanis)!

We are having a wonderful time here, I will try to do another post tonight of our visit to Taos yesterday.

Home in 7 days!!!!!

Santa Fe

We spent our first full day in Santa Fe exploring the areas of Ghost Ranch and  Abiquiu where Georgia O'Keeffe spent the majority of her painting years.

I have loved her art since I was a young girl and feel privileged to be able to visit the areas where she lived and worked.

Today we will go visit her museum here in Santa Fe.  Of course, first we will have a big breakfast of blue corn pancakes at the Plaza Cafe and after the museum do some eye shopping.  That's the only kind most people can afford here, Santa Fe is high end, lots of beautiful things at untouchable prices

Aren't J and I lucky that looking is free.

I always tell J being out here is like driving right into the middle of a Georgia O'Keeffe painting!

Home in about 10 days.

Sunday Praise

Matthew 28:1-10
After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.
The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: 'He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.' Now I have told you."
So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them. "Greetings," he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me." (NIV)
Easter Blessings to you all

A Izzie Day

Sometimes you just need a little Izzie in your life.  This is her newest obsession, a golf ball, our neighbor gave it to her and she loves, loves, loves to play with it.  It is the one toy she can play with herself.  She gets up in a chair or on the ottoman and drops it and it rolls away and she chases it.

When she plays with it in the coach it sounds like she is bowling.

I truly don't know what my life would be like without this little girl, she brings me so much happiness.

I know sometimes it is a pain to have to worry about getting home for the dog when you are out having fun but it is so, so worth it.

I am anxious for her to get home and have the whole back yard to run in, I know she does not enjoy being on the leash.

11 days and a wake up and we will be homeward bound, can't wait to see my family.

Farewell Dinner

Saturday night we shared another "going home" dinner, this time with our next door neighbors.  What a meal, we had grilled lobster tails, double baked potatoes and pear and gorgonzola salad, with a lovely wine.  Not pictured we also had brie stuffed mushroom for an appetizer and ice cream with Praline liqueur sauce for dessert.

What a meal!!

We have really gotten to know our neighbors better this year, they are lovely people and a lot of fun.  And of course I am in love with their dog Tango and so is Izzie.  They are so good together.  When I open the door and let Izzie out she wants to head straight to their porch to see her buddy.

These are the biggest tails I have ever seen

Barb set such a lovely table

Denny grilled the tails to perfection

good friends, good times
Now there is nothing to be done but GO ON A DIET!!!

Sunday Praise

It is a beautiful sunny morning here in AZ.  It's early but there is a lot going on outside.  People are starting to go home, two or three leave every morning.  Three have pulled out this morning already.

It has been so hot this last week, we have been closed up with the air running.  But today is a lovely break, all the windows open beautiful sunshine streaming in.

We will be leaving two weeks from today.  We will be stopping first in Santa Fe, it is about 25 degrees cooler there, in fact it snowed there last night.  We better soak this stuff in while we can.

All the cactus have started blooming.  This is a picture of one my neighbor has, one of the prettiest I have seen and biggest.

One of our small ones that we brought back from one of our jeep rides has buds on it. I hope it blooms before we leave. One of our neighbors is going to stay here the whole summer ( gotta give him credit, I would never even consider it) so he is going to give our cactus a drink once a month or so.  Hopefully they will all make it thru the summer.

Hope you have a lovely Sunday wherever you are.
