Another side of Arizona

Yesterday we went exploring in two old mining towns,  Globe and Miami.  There is a lot of mining in this area, copper, silver and gold. I know it is necessary but it certainly is not pretty.

This is the one and only street in downtown Globe.

Jay says this is the coolest bar he has ever seen.

We were not sure what this was supposed to be, a great number of the buildings were closed.

This is J's consolation prize.
J was very excited to go to Joe's Broadstreet Grill. This place has been open for over 100 years. It is know for it Pastys. They use to prepare them for the miners to take down in the mines for their meal. One side if filled with meat and potatoes and the other side is filled with fruit, a complete meal. They only serve them on Thursdays. Unfortunately as our waitress explained to us, they are so popular that you have to call in and reserve yours in the morning.  So , no Pasty for us.

Tomorrow I will show you some pictures of what the mountains look like after they are mined.
